If your child has bitten through their tongue or knocked out their tooth, do not panic. The best thing you can do is stay calm. If a tooth has been knocked out, recover the tooth and place it in a glass of milk or the patient’s own saliva. This will help to preserve the tooth. If the tongue has been bitten, use cold compresses to reduce the swelling. Immediately after the dental emergency occurs, contact our office to schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
